Veiled Flowers

I am captured by the protean quality of flowers, how their particular beauty changes by the hour, by the day. In this series, I emphasized their mutability by altering my photographs with texture and encaustic wax. I let each image inform how I would use the wax and what other elements to add, including collage materials, oils and pastels, and metallic powders. The final pieces show flowers unmoored from their natural form and surroundings, arriving at another place, transformed.
